People don’t often think of skin this way but it’s a scientific fact that the SKIN is the human body’s largest organ and the only one we can entirely see and feel! Just how big it is can be appreciated by the facts that the skin of an average adult weighs around 3.6-4.5kg (8-10lbs) and stretched out would cover around 2 square metres (22 square feet)!
Sadly, however, people don’t think of the skin as being a functioning organ like the heart, liver or kidneys – the result being that many of us don’t give it the importance and care it deserves or needs.
In turn, lack of care leads to premature ageing of the skin and delivers an appearance older than we really are.
The good news is, however, that unlike our other body organs we can do so much more to maintain its healthy state or even help reverse whatever damage it has sustained!
So, please look after this very important body organ.
